Summary

The Senior Mortgage Consultant develops relationships with referral sources outside of the credit union to obtain 1st mortgage business that otherwise would not be available to the credit union.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Procure 1st mortgage loans through resources outside of the credit union, such as but not limited to, Real Estate Agents, Builders, Financial Advisors, etc.
  • Cross sell other credit union products while bringing on new members.
  • Collect personal information accessing member’s credit, income, financial history and ability to explain the loan process to applicants.
  • Utilize multiple mortgage related software programs to determine member’s ability to borrow and pay back the mortgage obligation.
  • Promote honest and open communication with the member and throughout the credit union.
  • Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union’s values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
  • Work with other credit union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a 100% commissioned sales position in the mortgage lending space.
  • Proof of mortgage production history may be required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of all mortgage loan products.
  • Proficient knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/VA/USDA Guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Origination Software Systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to be bonded.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to project a high degree of professionalism and positive image of themselves and the credit union.
  • Demonstrates a proficiency of sales aptitude, strategies and techniques.
  • Must be willing and able to implement a Business/Marketing plan.
  • Must have or be able to obtain NMLS Registration and complete required annual training to maintain registration.
