This position is located at one of our Electro Savings Branch Locations, soon to be CommunityAmerica Credit Union. The role of the Member Specialist (Teller) is to provide quality member service and handle all member transactions accurately and efficiently. Responsible for assisting members in a variety of services including but not limited to maintaining and closing accounts. Member Specialist contributes directly to the achievement of sales by referring credit union products and services as well as recognizing opportunities to make referrals to appropriate branch staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process member transactions. Research and resolve complaints regarding transactions while fulfilling member needs to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Balance teller drawer, checks and vaults daily. Process assigned General Ledger (GL) transactions, including but not limited to gift cards, ATM settlements, Cash Recyclers, promotional sales, etc.
  • Assist members with maintaining and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to the appropriate staff member or supervisor, along with their recommendations.
  • Follow credit union policies, procedures, mission and values. Understand and follow the laws and regulations related to the teller function. Understand the concepts of negotiable instruments, endorsements, collected funds, check holds, and when a check may be safely cashed.
  • Promote credit union products to members and perform outbound calls
  • Take initiative to learn new skills or enhance skill sets.
  • Support overflow needs both within and outside of department as time allows.

Requirements

ExperienceSix months of similar or related experience.
EducationA high school education or GED.
Interpersonal SkillsWork involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other SkillsBasic Microsoft Office Suite experience. Be receptive to learning new task, recognize the steps necessary to get the job done, and show initiative in looking for ways to improve processes/duties and assist others.
