Summary

This position will be part of the team that is responsible for Item Processing tasks. This includes manually processing transactions, exceptions, returns and adjustments. Processing transactional and research requests received from other Credit Union departments. Processing Verification of Deposit requests received.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process transactions on deposit and loan accounts 
  • Post exceptions for checks, Speedpay payments and special posting files 
  • Research and post returns for check deposits, Speedpay, Foreign Items and Shared Branch deposits 
  • Process adjustments for member accounts, check deposits, ON US checks and Savings Bonds 
  • Maintain an understanding and can apply UCC and Reg CC guidelines for checks 
  • Process Verification of Deposit requests – Veteran Affairs department, Social Security 
  • Administration and third-party merchants 
  • Follow critical timelines on completing assigned duties 
  • Work closely with frontline staff to resolve exception issues and assist with member questions 
  • Work closely with Fraud Investigation departments to review and clear suspicious transactions 
  • Make sound decisions that consider credit union risk and member service 
  • Promote honest and open communication throughout the credit union 
  • Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit union’s values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics 
  • Work with other credit union departments to ensure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma required  
  • 1-2 years of Banking/Credit Union required  

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of financial institution operation processes 
  • Knowledge and ability to apply rules and regulations pertaining to direct responsibilities and 
  • other duties within the department 
  • Knowledge of credit union services and products 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally 
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications 
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software 
  • Must be able to be bonded
