Payment Processing

 

GENERAL FUNCTIONS: 

This individual will be responsible for ensuring daily cash posting, daily cash reconciliations, lockbox operations, cash vendor relations and payoffs processing are completed timely and accurately.  They will also be responsible for procedural updates and will be first in line in the escalation path.

Duties & Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assume responsibility and assist in the resolution of more complex inquiries and escalated issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for staff adherence to and accuracy of all written policies and procedures.
  • Ensure system balancing is completed, all outages reconciled, and sign off occurs on a daily basis.
  • Review exceptions to determine if any payments were misapplied and correct them in withing documented timeframes.
  • Review, prioritize, and provide timely and accurate response to tasks, email, etc.
  • Analyze information on a situation, problem, loan or borrower, and make appropriate recommendation on actions.
  • Ensure processing of suspense transactions are completed accurately on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and document a clear audit trail on all cash and payment transactions.
  • Able to research, respond, and provide information to customers (internal and external) on a wide variety of more complex mortgage loan servicing topics, payments, ACH and research on related payment topics.
  • Assist in identifying potential risks, communicate to management and take appropriate steps to avoid risk.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships by providing high quality customer service at all times to internal and external customers.
  • Promotes honest and open communication throughout the organization.

  • Work with other departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
  • Willingness to performs other duties/projects as assigned.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of cash management and processing.
  • Knowledge of bank account reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of Agency Loss Mitigation alternatives.
  • Knowledge of FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and RESPA Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of mortgage software.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to self-initiate and work independently without close supervision.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

In this position, individual will be expected to lift up to 20 pounds from time to time.

Also, must be able to stoop, bend, reach, or stand for extended periods of time.  Must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is expected to work in general office environment and may have to travel for visits to credit union facilities or for training purposes. Overtime will be expected to be worked as needed.

 

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year experience processing cash functions within a financial institution.
